Welcome to MOVEMENT.   We are lovers of movement of all types and perhaps a bit nerdy about our love of the body and understanding its organization.  

So, welcome in.  We hope to see you in the studio sometime soon and more - we hope you find some joy in movement for life and longevity.

Pilates Equipment

Our work is built on the methods of Joseph Pilates who called his system Contrology.  It is a whole body, integrated system of movement from mat work to equipment focusing on control, precision, breath, concentration, centering, and flow to build and resore the body as a whole.  Mr. Pilates believed in working with the body in front of him, meaning he would adapt his work to accomplish goals.  We 100% agree.  Each body’s needs are different and we strive to address each body before us with our complete knowledge and attention.

If you are new to Pilates we recommend a few  private lessons.  We are happy to help you figure out what might serve you best.

Some things to note

Cancellation - Please notify us 24 hours in advance when canceling to avoid a full charge of services scheduled. 

Safety - We love to have a good time but take safety very seriously.  Please wait for your instructor before getting on equipment. If something is producing discomfort or pain, please stop and tell your instructor as soon as appropriate.  We can usually modify and problem solve to adapt the situation for you.

If you have conditions or things going on in your body and you’re not sure how to proceed, contact us and we are happy to help advise on the best way to start.

You are welcome to bring a water bottle and towel but you do not need to bring anything. We have small spaces to store your things.

When we arrive

When possible, we request that you not arrive more than 5 minutes before your reservation to respect the privacy of other clients. Your teacher may be teaching right up until the time they see you. If so, we will take care of administrative tasks (waiver and payment) at the beginning or ending of your session.

Wear whatever you are comfortable moving in. We do request you not wear zippers or clothing with hardware as they can damage the upholstery on our equipment. We work with legs in the air at times so please consider wearing biker shorts under shorts or very loose pants. Many people like to wear grip socks and we do have some to borrow if you’d like to try before you buy!
